You may be an excellent professional Translator, Interpreter or other multilingual professional, but if you struggle to communicate this effectively (and quickly!), you’ll probably be bypassed for other suppliers.
As Project Manager and then Director of a successful LSP, I have read hundreds of linguist CVs, from all over the world. I needed to quickly and efficiently find the right linguist for the job.
Having to read three or four pages of intense information just to find out in what country someone was educated, was a ‘no-no’, and if a CV landed in front of me which appeared hard to decipher, I’d simply move on to a CV which was easier to navigate.
Your CV is usually the first impression that a potential client, agency or employer has of you. It must include the skills, achievements and experiences which relate to the role you are applying for, and crucially, in the right way.
It's also to your benefit for it to communicate who you are as a person, and hopefully contains some elements which make you stand out from other language professionals for the right reasons. Your personality, approach to work and flexible, professional attitude is really important.
Crafting an effective CV is a skill in itself. To build this Masterclass I’ve used my own extensive experience and have liaised with my contacts who are currently Project Managers and recruiters in the industry.

Simple, clear, to the point - just like your CV should be!
It's good practice to review your CV on a regular basis anyway, so I had nothing to lose. Although most of the advice is tailored specifically to linguists, it can easily be applied to any CV. The information is simple, clear and to the point - “The employer/agency needs to know ......, because of ....., so you need to put this information on your CV, in this format.”

During her time as a business owner and Project Manager, Laurianne reviewed hundreds of linguist CVs, has managed a large amount of projects, and has matched the correct linguists with the correct client project many times.
