Content is specifically dictated by the CIOLQ exam and real-life requirements.

    • 36 Modules cover non-language specific subject matters, including Translation Techniques, Interpreting Techniques, Sight Translation and a large amount of Public Sector / Law subjects, for example Types of Courts, Road Traffic, Immigration, Prisons and lots more.

    • 1 of the Modules is a Translation Practice specific to your language pair (which we'll ask you to confirm upon enrolment). You can choose to upgrade your course to have this marked by an expert linguist in your language pair who is chosen by our team, specifically to support you.

    • You also have the option to buy additional language-specific support, such as Translation Practices, LanguagePartnerᵀᴹ Mentor sessions, Mock Exams and Exam Prep Bundles.

Our pool of qualified, experienced linguists is extensive, hence why we are able to offer this course in any language pair.

  • When you enrol, if you choose to have Mentor sessions, our team looks at your profile, language pair etc, and hand-picks an appropriate LanguagePartnerᵀᴹ for you, who is advantageous for your development.

    • An experienced, accomplished, professional linguist working on Level 7-equivalent assignments

    • Up to date with contemporary techniques, vernacular and requirements

    • Academically proficient in their area of expertise

    • Friendly, forthcoming and looking forward to working with you

    • Available to support you throughout your time on the course

Your LanguagePartnerᵀᴹ will support you in the following ways:

    • At the end of your course, you will receive a Translation Practice paper. If you choose to upgrade and have this proofread, your LanguagePartnerᵀᴹ will carry out a full review, providing detailed examination of your translations,
including a report containing feedback and guidance.

    • Monitor your progression throughout any Translation Practices you decide to buy.

    • If you choose to buy a Mentoring Session, you will have a unique opportunity to discuss the skills, habits and capabilities of Translation / Interpreting with an experienced professional and to ask the questions you want to ask. In particular, you can discuss any Translation Practice/s you have already completed, and the comments made by your LanguagePartnerᵀᴹ

    Feedback about our LanguagePartnersᵀᴹ

“During the session my Language Partner explained everything in such good detail that as a result I think I should now easily overcome the problems I had with translation in the past. I found the learning process very challenging and stimulating. The most useful was the feedback from the written assignments and the Video Mentoring Session.”
    Agata

“Thank you so much for your feedback on my translation practice. My Language Partner's comments are extremely helpful, and it's given me the confidence boost I needed to tackle the next steps on this course.”
    Bethan

“My Language Partner is a very talented professional with very good communications skills and impressed me as an extremely transparent and honest person, which is a superb add-on to her professional values. I learned a lot from her.”
    Rita

“I have received the results of the exam in the post yesterday and I was very pleased - 3 Merits, 1 Pass and 1 Distinction. I have studied hard, of course, but I had all the necessary materials provided (very well written and structured), your help and advice during the whole process of learning and, of course, my Language Partner was very professional, knowledgeable and supportive.”
    Elena

“First of all it was great working with my Language Partner; he was extremely helpful and very accommodating of my output, which was I feel quite substandard (at first). I got a lot of confidence from the session as it's been a little while since I've been ‘in the saddle’, so it felt good to get this session under my belt with a relative lack of trauma! My Language Partner gave me some good tips, linguistically and also on approach, so yes - all in all I think it went well. What's more I know exactly what I need to focus on for next time - in addition to the ongoing exercises on the course.”
    Raphael

“I have done one distance learning course before and I prefer this one so far because of the Language Partner. It makes the course more personal and I can really see where I am going wrong and work on those areas. Other courses I have done do not include partners to answer any doubts.”
    Eleanor

    EXAM LANGUAGES

Please visit ciol.org.uk/ciol-diploma-public-service-interpreting-dpsi to see what languages the upcoming examinations are held in. (REAL!) STUDENT FEEDBACK

“The level of professionalism and expertise made this an invaluable experience. It has helped me to improve my language skills and taught me knowledge about the different topics, which are very practical. It would be definitely useful in the real working environment. It has been such a pleasure - you guys have made this a fabulous experience. I am looking forward for my exam tomorrow, so let me prepare a bit more…”

Eugenia

“I would like to thank you and all the team for your work. I have received the results of DPSI exam in the post yesterday and I was very pleased - 3 Merits, 1 Pass and 1 Distinction. I have studied hard, of course, but I had all the necessary materials provided (very well written and structured), your help and advice during the whole process of learning and, of course, my LanguagePartner was very professional, knowledgeable and supportive.”

Elena

“The course was thoroughly insightful and the exercises exposed weaknesses in my interpretation that I did not realise before. I was able to find ways around this though and better my skills through the regular exercises though. The course is exceptional, the exercises are helpful and I am very happy for having completed it [and different from] other online courses I have done, I at times felt I gained a lot from the Mentor interactions.”

Gerard (PT > EN)

“I used your resources, which were useful and passed the written exams with 'Distinction' and 'Pass’.”
