Funding & Grants

Some learners can access funding towards their training or exam. Here's a summary of the information we've found, but please conduct your own research.

Please note: this information is derived from our own research only. It isn't official advice and isn't intended to be comprehensive. Some information may be out of date, and new schemes appear all the time, some of which we may not be aware of. Please always do your own research and check the latest position directly with each provider. Last updated June 2026.

Our preparation courses (DPSI, CertTrans, DipTrans), although recognised by the CIOL, are unaccredited. It's the examination (the qualification itself) which is the accredited part.

We've traditionally found that funding is only offered for the accredited part of a qualification, so it's worth contacting the CIOL directly to ask whether any funding help exists towards the exam.

Universal Credit

If you claim Universal Credit, your Work Coach may be able to support training that helps you into work, through the Flexible Support Fund. This is discretionary and decided case by case.

One of our students recently told us that Universal Credit had agreed to potentially sponsor their training, and we provided a quotation for the purpose.

Ask your Work Coach. We'll happily provide a quotation.

Advanced Learner Loan

These loans fund tuition fees for qualifications at Levels 3 to 6, but only where the qualification is currently designated for loans and the course is delivered by a provider approved to offer loans in England.

The CIOL qualifications' loan designation seems to have lapsed in recent years, so this route may not currently be available.

Check the latest position with the CIOL and at gov.uk.

Access to Work

Access to Work is a grant for people with a disability or health condition, aimed at workplace support, equipment and adjustments. It is sometimes offered towards unaccredited training too.

We can't guarantee anything, so it's worth asking them directly. Bear in mind it isn't usually a quick process.

Apply directly at gov.uk / search for Access To Work online.

Employer Funding

If you're employed, your employer may fund CPD (Continuing Professional Development) or a qualification relevant to your role. Many organisations have a training budget for exactly this.

We'll provide a quotation and outline for your employer.
