When you choose to learn online, it's always helpful to have feedback on your progress.

This is not always possible with e-learning formats…

However, with our Translation Practices, we provide you with the opportunity to have your translations proofread and reviewed by an experienced LanguagePartnerᵀᴹ - and expert guidance is provided to you.

These are tailored to whichever course you are taking - DPSI (Law), DPSI Health, CertTrans, DipTrans, FDTI, FDT and ILTD and we also offer General Translation Practices in Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels (below).

You may wish to buy these as part of your CPD (Continuing Professional Development).

How Translation Practice works

  1. Choose your Translation Practice (BELOW) and enrol online.

  2. You are provided with an actual past exam paper matching your course, to translate. Where these are not yet available, a highly suitable alternative is provided.

  3. Submit your translation online.

  4. One of our experienced LanguagePartnersᵀᴹ (an expert professional linguist), then proofreads your Translation Practice.

    • In addition, following the CIOLQ’s suggested assessment criteria, they will also answer questions about certain elements of your work, thereby providing you with invaluable feedback, leading to success in your exams or practical application of your newly learned skills.

Upgrading

On some of our courses you are provided with one or more Translation Practices as exercises. On some courses, these are proofread as part of the course fee (e.g. DipTrans). With the courses that do not include automatic proofreading, you can choose to upgrade at a discounted price, to have them proofread & feedback provided. Instructions are on each course.

Student Feedback

linguisttraining.com student and #CertTrans candidate Cristina Henein travelled from Milan to London for Chartered Institute of Linguists Translators Day and celebrated her great success in the exam with CEO John Worne, Head of Membership Don Hebblethwaite, and other delegates. Congratulations Cristina!

“Thanks ever so much for returning my paper and the marking sheet, and so quickly, too. I can't emphasis how helpful this feedback is to me.

It was definitely good to get so much one-on-one feedback from my Translation Practices and I don't think I would have felt as confident taking the exam had I not done these.”

Katrina

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for having such a professional tutor, Martha, who has delivered detailed, informative feedback to me..

She demonstrates not only a high level of knowledge and professionalism, but also a kind approach to a learner.”

Feedback about our LanguagePartnersᵀᴹ

“I have received the results of the exam in the post yesterday and I was very pleased - 3 Merits, 1 Pass and 1 Distinction. I have studied hard, of course, but I had all the necessary materials provided (very well written and structured), your help and advice during the whole process of learning and, of course, my Language Partner was very professional, knowledgeable and supportive.”
Elena

“First of all it was great working with my Language Partner; he was extremely helpful and very accommodating of my output, which was I feel quite substandard (at first). I got a lot of confidence from the session as it's been a little while since I've been ‘in the saddle’, so it felt good to get this session under my belt with a relative lack of trauma! My Language Partner gave me some good tips, linguistically and also on approach, so yes - all in all I think it went well. What's more I know exactly what I need to focus on for next time - in addition to the ongoing exercises on the course.”
Raphael

“I have done one distance learning course before and I prefer this one so far because of the Language Partner. It makes the course more personal and I can really see where I am going wrong and work on those areas. Other courses I have done do not include partners to answer any doubts.”
Eleanor

“I have found this translation practice really useful overall. The level of detail in the reviewer's comments and advice was really good and the feedback provided has helped me understand what I need to improve and better prepare for the Diptrans exam. Thanks Linguist Training for your help! Rated 5 out of 5”
